Union Kitchen and Compass Coffee join forces to offer free entrepreneurship classes

Union Kitchen, a food incubator in Northeast,  and Compass Coffee, a neighborhood java joint in Shaw, have teamed up to create Made in DC, a non-profit that will "support and expand opportunities available to local food businesses," according to a press release.

To jump start the nonprofit, Made in DC is raising $10,000 via a crowdfunded loan on Kiva Zip. The loan is currently 31 percent funded, with 17 days left in the campaign.

The classes will be taught by "seasoned entrepreneurs" and are expected to cover topics such as marketing, finance, food safety and law. Made in DC also plans to offer computer literacy, and English and Spanish language classes.
