DC bowtie business gets CNNMoney nod

Local bowtie maker Eliot Payne is taking the D.C. fashion scene by storm with his handmade bowties. Sales have tripled in the three years that Payne has been running his business, first as a side gig and then full time after federal spending cuts caused him to lose his government job.

CNNMoney profiles Payne and his business, Accoutre, in a brief article here.

Payne is also teaming up with menswear blogger Paul Beirne to develop a line of suits, launching next fall.

"It won't be a traditional suit. It's a lot more unstructured and casual," Payne told CNNMoney. "Paul and I both wanted to design something with some edge to it -- something that we'd like to wear ourselves."
