DC gets first-ever director of technology and innovation

The District now has its first director of technology innovation in the District’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer, reports the Washington Business Journal.

Matt Bailey, appointed to the position by Mayor Bowser Monday, is a former user experience manager for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and co-founder of Code for D.C., a volunteer organization that builds technology to help improve the lives of District residents.

His plans for the position include not only encouraging the latest technology but utilizing innovative practices in “improving how we live and making government more accessible and accountable to residents.”
