The University of Maryland has requested funding from the Maryland Board of Public Works for the next phase of both buildings, and those requests are expected to be approved next week.

Called "Green'O'vation," the project will reopen O Street NW between 1st and 3rd, which has been closed since the original Dunbar High School was built in the 1970s.

Little Folks Nursery School is moving into a historic dairy at 3247 Q St. NW.

The new energy-efficient Dunbar High School is on target for completion by August 2013 and filled with innovative features for the students.

Ground has broken on two new residence halls for Howard University freshmen and sophomores.

Renovated former Rudolph Elementary School will open for the 2013-2014 school year to serve 600 students from grades 5 to 12.
