RESCHEDULED: #accessartDC panel - tickets still available!

Update: This event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2015. If you registered for the event before it was rescheduled, you are still registered. If you'd like to register now, you can do so here.

Please join us for a discussion on the arts and humanities in the District -- through a lens pointed east of the Anacostia River.

Does current infrastructure east of the river support artists and their creative processes? Where are the spaces District-wide that Ward 7 & 8 residents consume art? What organizations are on the frontlines of arts advocacy and where are key opportunities for growth?

Our panelists will answer all of these questions and more. Out of the discussion, we hope to leave you with tangible action‹steps to create more culturally equitable communities east of the river and citywide.

For this event, held in partnership with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, we’re taking over one of D.C.’s newest spaces -- the RISE Demonstration Center, one of the first renovated spaces on the east campus of St. Elizabeths.

Our panelists:
Neil Takemoto, founder, CSPM Group, creative placemaking expert @neiltakemoto
Adele Robey, founder, Anacostia Playhouse @anacostiaPhouse
Tendani Mpulubusi El, Ward 8 Arts & Culture Council Chairman @tendani_art

Co-Moderated by Antoinette Ford and Barbara Jones, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Ward 7 and Ward 8 Commissioners

Additionally, members of the Split This Rock D.C. Youth Slam Team will perform a brief poetry set to kick off the discussion.

This event is the first installation of a three-part series with the Commission called Curate Your Culture: Community Conversation Series. Later this year, we¹ll host discussions on creative aging (May 2015) and emergency preparedness (September 2015).

As the District continues to grow and evolve, these events will best thrive if we hear ideas, suggestions and commentary from everyone who benefits from art around the city. Involvement from artists, arts advocates and art patrons will offer much-needed input to improve the environments where we live, work and play.

The city is ours. It¹s up to us to shape its cultural landscape.
