The store burnt down Wednesday night in a fire of uncertain provenance (investigators began sifting through the rubble Friday). 

Running this masthead is in honor of the store that so many D.C. residents remember fondly, and which will—never fear, neighbors—be rebuilt, in perhaps as quickly as a year.

In the meantime, shoppers can visit the "pop-up" Fragers at 7th and C SE or donate to the Frager's Fund set up by the Capitol Hill Community Foundation.
