Noyes Playground construction timeline solidifies

The timeline for renovations at Noyes Playground is firming up, DC Department of General Services (DGS) spokesperson Darrell Pressley says.

Construction on the field across from Noyes Elementary at 2725 10th Street NE is still scheduled for "spring 2013," but Pressley confirmed that site prep work will begin the week of February 24th.

That includes securing the Brookland site by installing a fence, putting up signs, and setting up trailers for the construction crew.

"Shovels in the ground is scheduled for spring 2013," Pressley added.

$1 million has been allocated for the renovation, which will convert an empty field into a park with playground, adult fitness equipment, picnic tables and grills, and a multi-purpose field and walking path.

D.C.'s fiscal year 2013 budget includes funding for the renovation of 31 other playgrounds in fiscal year 2013. Of those playgrounds, six are located in Ward 8, four in Ward 7, and three are in Ward 6.
